Permanent Makeup Brows
Our Permanent Makeup Artist, Jeanie, is able to create beautiful brows customized personally for your particular facial structure, skin type, and lifestyle. She is experienced in micro-pigmentation (sometimes called Machine Brows), including Nanobrows, Powder Brows, or any combination of them (Combo Brows or 3D Brows), and also the more well-known traditional Microblading. During your free consultation, Jeanie will discuss your medical and skin history, skin type, and lifestyle, along with your specific brow goals and expectations in order to decide which type of semi-permanent brow makeup is right for you. Below is a little more specific information on what to expect at any brow procedure and following is more insight on the differences particularly between the well-known Microblading, and the more digital way to create brows, called Micro-Pigmentation.
Before any brow procedure, when you arrive at your appointment, a brow map will be customized by a series of horizontal, vertical, and diagonal lines, based on your facial proportions and drawn on with an oil-based crayon, thus, framing the area within which hair-like strokes, shading, and/or a combination of both will be micro-pigmented and/or tattooed into the upper layers of the skin. In this way, the procedure offers a semi-permanent color to the skin. It lasts 1-2 years depending on the skin’s retention of colors. Between passes – starting after the first – a numbing solution of lidocaine will be applied to add to comfort level. The products are formulated to be perfectly safe and can be purchased over the counter from most pharmacies/chemists. As a result of the procedure, combined with the use of the anesthetic, you can expect to experience some redness/swelling that can last 1-4 days. The pigment will be wiped throughout the procedure, and your technician will keep you informed on the progress.
The artistic technique used is natural feathering of hair like strokes creating a beautifully designed brow, ideal for your face. We imitate your hair growth with fine lines, filling in any gaps or thinning, thus defining a 3D definition of your brows that look naturally fuller and thicker. Jeanie may add shading to create a more defined and finished look if desired.
What is the difference between Microblading and Micro-Pigmentation?
During Microblading, the technician uses a small blade (made up of tiny needles) that deposits colored pigments via small incisions in the upper layers of the skin.
During Micro-pigmentation, the technician uses a rotary pen, equipped with a sterilized, disposable needle cartridge, typically using a nano-needle, which is a .18mm diameter needle (the smallest in the industry) that quickly and repetitively punctures the skin vertically, inserting the pigment into the upper layers of the dermis. The rotary pen is also used with other cartridges that bundle 3-5 small needles, and using varying speeds, can be used for shading for the “combo-brow” or “3D brow” effect.
Micro-pigmentation is Jeanie’s go-to for any type of shading and can be utilized for hair-strokes as well. This method typically results in longer retention and is associated with less discomfort and/or prolonged irritation, faster healing, and less scar tissue over recurring treatments. Traditional microblading can sometimes offer a more feathery, natural result, but most clients will benefit from a combination of both methods to achieve their best brow. In any case, Jeanie will thoroughly discuss and go over any questions you may have to be sure your brows end up as customized and unique as you are!
The Best Brow Shape For Your Face
The ideal brow shape for your face will make you look rested, bring out your eyes and brighten up your face. Depending on your face shape, we will design the right brow line and arch to suit you.
Jeanie will measure your facial features and bone structure and then draw on the eyebrow with makeup first. You’ll then be able to decide if you like the thickness, the position, the arch and overall look. Only once you feel 100% confident that it’s what you desire should you give your approval. Jeanie will then start the more permanent microblading procedure.
What Will I Look Like After My Procedure
The area will appear darker at first because of the blood and lymph that has been brought to the surface during the permanent makeup application. The procedure area tissue will crust a bit and this tissue will slough off usually within 5-7 days leaving you with a softer color. This will be repeated at your touch-up appointment. The color will fade between 40-70%.
A 30-minute consultation is required prior to having the microblading service.
